It Didn't Rain on the Disney Parade!

?

The excitement grew as the IHS Music Department traveled closer to the much-awaited day at Universal Studios. The students made a mad dash to The World of Harry Potter and proceeded to ride all of the thrill rides they could. Many students purchased wands and waited in long lines for Butterbeer.

The move into the hotel went smoothly, and it didn't take much to get the group settled for the night. The next morning, the Senior/Junior bus students sang Happy Birthday to Mr. Schatt as the group headed to a wet Magic Kingdom. It rained all day and began to dampen the thoughts of the band being able to march in the parade. Students gathered the fortitude, and many parents, grandparents and siblings lined Main Street awaiting the IHS Marching Band. As the band rounded the corner, there were loud cheers of excitement. What a proud moment for all!

?

The day at EPCOT was perfect and at mid-day parents, grandparents and siblings gathered at the Melody Gardens Stage for the IHS Vocal Ensemble performance. They put on a superb performance for the crowd and looked great doing it. Wednesday's overcast "Beach Day" produced plenty of lobsters that enjoyed eating with their hands and cheering for the Blue Knight at the Medieval Times Dinner.

All went well the last day at Animal Kingdom (Tonga Toast!) and Hollywood Studios. Departure was met with a steady rain as tired students and chaperones left the warm temperatures and headed north. All had a great time and have many great memories of "The Happiest Place on Earth."

Schools Plan Community Meeting Regarding Budget

The Independence Schools have scheduled a Community Meeting to discuss the potential loss of revenue if the governors current proposed budget is passed into law. If adopted, Independence Schools could suffer the second highest loss of state funding compared to the more than 100 school districts in the eight-county region. State Representatives Anielski and Patton have been invited to attend this informative meeting in the High School Auditorium on Thursday, April 14, at 7:00 p.m.
